Flu Vaccine Latest Information from NHS England February 2018

Please find below and attached information received from the Public Health Commissioning Manager Dawn Hollis.  There is an FAQ section in the attached letter which advises you to contact your NHSE local team (that would be Dawn Hollis whose contact details can be found below) :

Dear Colleagues

Please find attached a letter from the national NHS England team regarding the ordering of flu vaccines for the 2018/19 flu season.

The national team is recommending the use of :

• aTIV vaccines for those aged 65 and over

• QIV vaccines for those aged under 65 in at risk groups

Please note: national guidance is that the use of TIV vaccines for the 2018/19 season is NOT advised for any patient group and so if practices still have orders for TIV vaccines in place, the letter and FAQs advise how to change those orders.

In addition, national funding for aTIV and QIV vaccines will now be available.

Fortunately, the SE local office had already made local funds available for aTIV and QIV vaccines for 2018/19.

If you have any queries, about this letter or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Dawn Hollis
