Dr. Jack Jacobs, Medical Director of Kent LMC, was honoured to serve as a judge for BBC Radio Kent's Make a Difference Awards, supporting the Carer Award. Speaking as a GP, Dr. Jacobs shared, "I am regularly humbled by the dedication of carers who work tirelessly, often without recognition. I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you - for the invaluable, remarkable, and essential work you do."

The finalists in the carer category each displayed extraordinary strength and resilience, overcoming significant challenges in their roles. The winner, Byron Luckhurst, exemplified this spirit. Despite spending much of his life as a young carer and facing immense adversity, Byron has turned his experiences into inspiration and hope. Not only does he continue to provide care, but he also volunteers for a charity that supported him as a child, making a meaningful impact in his community.
