Hamstreet Surgery is a well-established GMS teaching practice providing high-quality care to around 7,800 patients. We are based in a rural, purpose-built, recently renovated premises with an onsite dispensary.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Operational Manager to oversee the smooth running of our daily operations and to provide leadership and support to the wider team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong organisational and leadership skills who thrives in a dynamic, patient-focused environment. You’ll work closely with the GP Partners and Practice Manager to ensure day-to-day services run efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily appointment availability and work with the GP Partner Lead to adjust clinics and scheduling in response to staffing levels or patient demand.
- Line manage Reception Team Leader, Admin & Secretarial staff providing mentoring and development with regular reviews and delivery of annual appraisals.
- Co-ordinate the practice IT system.
- Respond to patient complaints, logging trends and working with the team to identify and implement improvements.
- Engage with the PPG, providing updates and acting on joint opportunities and feedback that will enhance the patient experience.
- Oversee building maintenance and repairs.
- Handle all maintenance contracts for cleaning, gardening, waste removal etc Provide daily support and guidance to reception lead and staff, ensuring adherence to practice policies and procedures.
- Support staff development and ensure completion of all mandatory training across the surgery.
- Assist with staff recruitment and help foster a positive, supportive work environment.
- Lead by example, motivating and inspiring your team to maintain high standards of care and service.
