About the role

Kingsnorth Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity to recruit a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly, supportive and dynamic team.

The successful candidate must be empathetic and patient-focused, highly organised and detail-oriented, with the confidence to communicate effectively with patients and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of this role include:

• Supporting the safe and effective management of repeat prescriptions.

• Undertaking medication reviews and medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge.

• Supporting structured medication reviews and improving patient outcomes.

• Ensuring prescriptions are accurate and compliant with practice protocols and current guidelines.

• Liaising with GPs and other healthcare professionals regarding medication queries and optimisation.

• Patient counselling and responding to patient queries in a professional and timely manner.

• Promoting safe, cost-effective prescribing and supporting medicines optimisation.

• Monitoring medication usage to identify potential over- or under-ordering.

• Identifying and escalating discrepancies or clinical concerns appropriately.

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.

• Assisting with prescription audits and quality improvement initiatives.

• Processing prescription claims

• Undertaking administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the practice.

Person Specification

Essential

• Qualified Pharmacy Technician with current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

• GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Excellent communication skills with a clear and polite telephone manner.

• Competent IT literacy.

• Effective time management and organisational skills.

• Empathetic, patient-focused approach.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.

• Professional understanding of confidentiality.

Desirable

• Previous experience working in primary care or GP practice.

• Experience using EMIS or other clinical systems.

• Experience in medicines optimisation or medication review processes.
