Pharmacy Technician

Job Details

About Us

We are a progressive, patient-focused primary care organisation serving 38,000 patients across multiple Medway sites. You’ll join a supportive Pharmacy Team led by a Senior Pharmacist, working alongside an experienced Pharmacy Technician for peer support, and backed by a central Prescribing Hub that manages repeat prescribing at scale.

The Role

We’re seeking a detail-driven Pharmacy Technician to support us in medicines safety, quality, and access. You’ll work closely with Clinical Pharmacists, Senior PT, GPs, nurses, and the Prescribing Hub—and you’ll have opportunities to support our Same Day Assessment Hub (SDAC) team (e.g., medication histories, prescription queries under supervision).

Key Responsibilities

Medicines Management & Access
• Medicines reconciliation (post-discharge/clinic letters) and liaison with community pharmacies
• Handle prescription queries, synchronise meds, and support formulary/switch projects
• Maintain accurate medication records, allergies, and EPS repeat templates

Governance, Safety & Quality
• CQC search support: run/validate CQC searches, collate evidence, and assist with audit/action plans
• Monitor national medication & patient safety alerts (e.g., MHRA/NHSE alerts via CAS), notify surgeries, track actions, and ensure timely completion and sign-off
• Work to shared care protocols: agree clear task boundaries and escalation routes with Clinical Pharmacists before starting activity
• Contribute to antimicrobial stewardship: audits, prescribing reviews, patient information, and initiatives to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use
• Assist with QI projects, recalls, and medicines safety improvements across the practice

About You

GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician (essential)
• Primary care, community, or hospital experience (primary care desirable)
• Accurate, organised, and confident communicator; solution-focused
• Comfortable using NHS systems/EPS and working to SOPs and protocols
• Full driving licence and willingness to work across sites
• ACT/ACPT accreditation and CPPE/NHSE primary care training (desirable)

What We Offer

• Competitive salary (DOE)
• Flexible part-time working pattern
• Peer support from an experienced Pharmacy Technician plus Senior Pharmacist leadership
• Prescribing Hub infrastructure to streamline workflow
• Exposure to innovative models of care, including SDAC
• Funded CPD opportunities and career development
