Medical Certificates for Private Gym/Fitness Clubs

Several GP have sought advice on the provision of medical certificates for patients who are joining gym's etc. This work is outside your terms of service and you are entitled to decline to provide such a certificate. If you do agree to provide such a certificate you are able to charge a fee at your discretion.

If you are receiving multiple requests from a local gym then it is advisable to negotiate directly with the management to agree the terms of a local contract and an agreed fee. The gym are then under an obligation to inform their prospective clients and the fee will not be a surprise to your patients.
