Job summary

As a first contact practitioner (FCP), acting as a first-contact physiotherapist, you will be providing initial assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in need of musculoskeletal (MSK) related care. As the first point of contact for patients, this individual plays a pivotal role in ensuring timely and effective care delivery.

At our organisation, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, advanced technology and resources, ongoing training and professional development opportunities and a strong commitment to patient care and satisfaction. We value the contributions of our FCPs and provide them with the tools and support they need to excel in their role.

If you are a compassionate and skilled FCP looking to make a difference in the lives of patients, we invite you to join our team and be part of our mission to provide high-quality, accessible, and patient-centered care. Your expertise and dedication will be valued and rewarded in our dynamic and innovative healthcare setting.

Main duties of the job

1. Assessment and triage: You will assess and triage patients who present with MSK conditions, such as back pain, joint pain, or sports injuries. You will use your clinical expertise to determine the appropriate course of action, which may involve referring the patient for further tests or treatment, providing advice, or referring them to a specialist.

2. Diagnosis and treatment: You are trained to diagnose and treat a range of MSK conditions, including strains, sprains, and fractures. You may use a variety of techniques, such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education, to help patients recover from their injuries and manage their pain.

3. Referrals and follow-up: You will work closely with other healthcare professionals, to ensure patients receive the appropriate care and support. You may refer patients for further assessment or treatment, and provide follow-up care to monitor their progress.

4. Patient education: You will educate patients about their condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies. You will empower patients to take an active role in their care and support them in making informed decisions about their health.

5. Continuous professional development: You will stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in MSK care. You will participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
